PTFE (Teflon®) Products

The exceptional strength of the carbon-fluorine bond and the high molecular weight give PTFE (Teflon®) a range of outstanding properties:

Wide operating temperature range: -200°C to +250°C

Chemically inert: Suitable for almost all chemicals except elemental fluorine and some fluorinated compounds

Very low coefficient of friction

Non-stick surface

Non-flammable

Excellent dielectric strength (dependent on frequency and temperature)

Good mechanical properties, especially in applications involving bending or vibration

Zero moisture absorption & UV resistant

Non-toxic

Limited resistance to gamma radiation: Exposure to 70 megarads reduces tensile strength by 50%

These properties refer to “pure” PTFE. For certain engineering applications, improved performance is achieved by adding inorganic or metallic fillers, such as:

15% Glass, 25% Glass, 60% Bronze, 15% Graphite, 25% Carbon
